Are you the same Joe Tracy who won the DAR World Speech Competition?
Yes. In 1991, while still in college, I won local, state, and national Daughters of the American Revolution speech competitions to advance to the World Finals in Sweden. I represented the United States in the World Finals, which took place in 1992 in Gotenberg, Sweden. I gambled by changing my speech for the finals and it paid off. The finals were quite different as there were translators who would, in real time, translate the speech to judges wearing headphones who didn’t speak English. It was a fun, educational, and everlasting experience. Sweden was an awesome place to visit. I give all the credit in the world to my coach at the time – Dr. James Chase. I could have never done it without him.

Yes! Those were some of the best years of my life. I love NewTek, their products, their staff, and the fanbase. Although I now use Final Cut Pro for my video work, I will always remember the awesome NewTek Amiga Flyer days. Tim Jenison, an awesome guy, is a major innovator in the digital video marketplace and Jim Plant (NewTek CEO) got me started in the magazine industry.

Are you the same Joe Tracy that wrote about Japanese Balloon Bombs?c
Yes. A lot of Americans (and even many Japanese) don’t know the history of Japanese Balloon Bombs and how they were used during World War 2. It’s quite fascinating. Unfortunately there were American deaths (on American soil) as a result of them. I also did a quick little slide video about Japanese Balloon Bombs that you can watch by clicking here.
